Resilience Rooted in Love: Jamara Brooks-Parmer is a devoted wife, mother, and nonprofit founder who has turned personal trials into a movement of healing and hope. In 2019, she launched the Uniqly Made Foundation to support families with medically fragile children, inspired by the strength of her daughter, Jahmya, who lived courageously through years of complex medical challenges.
This year, Jamara is being honored with the Resilience Award at the 2025 JoyTutor Celebrations of Courage Awards on September 6th. Her life’s work reminds us that resilience is not born only in the aftermath of loss, but in the daily choice to rise, love, and build community even in the hardest seasons.

A Mother’s Love, A Daughter’s Legacy
Jamara’s daughter, Jahmya, was born with a life-threatening heart condition. From her earliest days, Jahmya endured multiple surgeries, long hospital stays, and a path filled with both triumph and struggle. Through it all, Jamara became her fiercest advocate and a steady voice for other families walking similar journeys.
In April 2019, Jamara founded the Uniqly Made Foundation in Jahmya’s honor. The mission was clear: to build a community where families with medically fragile children could find support, education, and belonging. The Foundation became a lifeline for countless parents, known for programs like “UniqWarriors” and peer support circles.
In 2025, when Jahmya passed away, Jamara’s world shifted forever. And yet, she continues to lead with the same love, courage, and faith that defined their journey together—choosing resilience as a tribute to her daughter’s spirit.
Carrying Forward the Uniqly Made Vision
Through the Foundation, Jamara ensures Jahmya’s legacy lives on. The Uniqly Made Foundation continues to serve “UniqFamilies,” providing emotional support, storytelling spaces, and financial resources for families in need. It’s more than an organization—it’s a safe haven for those who might otherwise feel unseen.
Her resilience does not deny the pain of loss—it honors it. By sharing her truth and building this community, Jamara gives others the courage to keep going, even when life feels impossible.
Honoring Jamara’s Resilience
At the JoyTutor Celebrations of Courage Awards on September 6th, we are proud to honor Jamara Brooks-Parmer with the Resilience Award. Her story is one of love turned into legacy, grief transformed into grace, and courage that continues to light the way for others.
Jamara’s journey is proof that even through unimaginable heartbreak, the human spirit can rise, inspire, and build communities of healing.
